Each year, we have a limited number of opportunities for a year-long, paid, part-time position as a Recess Coordinator. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a school, make great connections, change the path of many young lives, and hone your skills as a trailblazer. We also offer opportunities for students to collect valuable volunteer hours as an assistant to a Recess Coordinator. 
RECESS COORDINATOR - Positions full for 2019-2020.

The goal of the Recess Project is to promote engagement, inclusion, positive interactions, and physically active play during recess. We have designed a program that places university students in schools to create meaningful play spaces and opportunities for inclusive, creative, and physically active play. 
 
We have a very exciting opportunity for several Recess Coordinators for contracts from September to the end of June in schools in Niagara. We provide training and support. We require a minimum commitment of 6 hours hours per week up to 10 hours per week.  The hourly rate of pay is $18.48/hr.

​Roles:
•   Facilitating and implementing the program
•   Training and guiding Junior Recess Leaders 
•   Organizing and supervising university volunteers during recess
•   Managing equipment
•   Arranging and promoting a calendar of fun recess activities 
 
A recreation background (camp counsellor, sports coaching, dance/athletic experience, play/movement programs) is required.
 
We provide a complete two day training and continuous guidance throughout the school year.
 
Police Check (Vulnerable Sector) is required.

Volunteer Position - We are always seeking volunteers to support kids at recess!

Position: Ongoing
Hours per week: Minimum commitment 2 hours per week for 6 weeks.
Locations: Niagara Region

Roles:
  • Guiding and supervising children during recess (indoor and outdoor)
  • Guiding and supervising Junior Leaders during recess 
  • Managing equipment
  • Running an activity (dance, crafts, drama, coding... suggestions?)

Volunteers are welcome to volunteer in a classroom in between recesses, if desired. We will arrange this for you upon request.

We provide training and continuous guidance throughout the school year.

Police Check (Vulnerable Sector) is required.
